Digicel Restores 98%, Expect Full Service Soon
[Updated] Digicel says that it has restored 86% of its network as of 9.00am following Hurricane Nicole, and expects to return to full service soon.
A spokesperson said, “Digicel & BTC engineers were immediately on site at affected cell tower locations and worked late into the night to ensure as many customers as possible had service. At the height of the storm 12 sites were down with six of those returned to full operation last night.
“Overall the Digicel network proved resilient throughout the category 3 hurricane with minimum disruption to customers, in large part thanks to the underground fibre backbone that supports BTC and Digicel.
“As of last night BTC home internet systems are fully operational and once power is restored by our colleagues at BELCO our customers will have internet again.”

“The Digicel store and the BTC stores in Hamilton will open their doors at 11.00am this morning for normal trading.”
Update 3.56pm: Digicel said service is now at 97%.
Update 7.47pm: The company said, “Digicel service is now at 98%. The cell tower at Sentinel Hill suffered major damage and requires a rebuild which is expected to be complete by the end of tomorrow, Saturday 14th.
“Digicel would like to thank any affected customers for their ongoing patience while this emergency work is carried out.”
