  1. George says:

Letting the public know the criteria for nominating a candidate would be helpful.

    • PBanks says:

I think it’s whoever you feel is worth the accolade, that’s made headlines of one form or another, in 2016. So it could be an entertainer, athlete, businessperson, person in the community, no restriction (except being either Bermudian or living in Bermuda).

      • George says:

“Whoever you feel is worth the accolade” – Then I nominate myself?! Good intentions poorly thought through if that is indeed the criteria for nomination. Just read below how silly the nominations are going to get with NO criteria set.

        • PBanks says:

Could be worse, look at the National Heroes fracas where it’s turned into politicians selecting former politicians for the title.

Here, although the suggestions in the Bernews thread (and whatever gets submitted by email) may be considered ludicrous by some, it stands to reason that Ms. Pickering and the staff that works with her will use a fine toothed comb to separate the wheat from the chaff.

    • Alison says:

I think the criteria is who you find most fascinating.

    • Onion Juice says:

Well for starters the criteria should exlude ALL polititians.
      Duffy hands down.

  2. Terry says:

Well we already know who are the biggest a**es.

    All 36 of them.

  3. Let's Nominate Scientist says:

    I nominate SCIENTIST! #mostfascinating

    • reddamtibi says:

Dude it’ll be soo funny if he won it! lets start the movement – I just sent in my e-mail nominating him. I can’t wait to see him give his acceptance speech with a can of 211 in his hand…

    • Scientist says:

      Not just Scientist, SHAOLIN SCIENTIST.

  4. Derek says:

The hunger strike lady that gained weight!

  5. sage says:

I predict Jimmy “Spittle” Spithill will win.

  6. reddamtibi says:

    Scientist…

  7. Terry says:

So I had a beer and cleaned the house and washed what was needed to be.

I had second thoughts re the topic.
The little girl and boy who learned to help their family and neighbors.

The people that taught them this

    The people that still do.

Sorry to have gone over “10″.

    Shalom.

  8. Triangle Drifter says:

Hmmmmm, for good reasons or for other reasons? The facinating people for good reasons usually go about their lives in a quiet unassuming way.

The others are always looking for an open mike or a pulpit to gain attention from.

    • PBanks says:

Fair argument on pulpits, et al, and one that can be used to disqualify any politician or other ‘news-maker’- so why not a small business owner who’s done well (e.g. Yo Cherry or Ashley’s Lemonade), or an unheralded athlete or entertainer who may inspire others, for example?

  9. Will says:

    Mark Anderson!

  10. Up D hill says:

Flora Duffy , Sir John Swan, Alan Dutch, Kavin Smith , Tyler Butterfield, Shaun Goater, Tom Wadson, Gene Steed , Andrew Chamberlin , Edward Christopher

  11. Cow Polly says:

As much as it pains me to say this the most fascinating person in Bermuda is Rev Tweed. How an expat can rally the masses to march against the very bill that would have legitimized him in this Country only to have the same people clamor for it’s legalization when he loses his permit is truly, truly indeed fascinating.
There are no other words for it…… well there are but lets leave it as ‘fascinating’.

    • Real Deal says:

Its call being unbiased. Not many people can think or be on that level. the ability to look beyond oneself.

  12. BRea says:

    no one
