Court: Man Charged With Cannabis Possession

November 29, 2016

Appearing in Magistrates Court, a 20-year-old man denied charges of possessing cannabis, a scale and cash that was the proceeds of criminal activity.

Kethyio Whitehurst, was charged with being in an Increased Penalty Zone and possessing cannabis; possessing a digital scale that was fitted for and intended for use with the illegal substance; and possessing over $1,600 in cash that was the proceeds of criminal activity.

The three charges stem from a Police intervention in Sandys Parish in November this year, and the Crown Prosecutor told Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo that the weight of the alleged cannabis was 96.3 grams.

Whitehurst plead not guilty to all charges and was granted bail at $5,000 but with a surety, and was given a trial date in March 2017.
