Live Music On Saturday Evenings At The Grand

As part of the Uncover the Arts programme, the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs is partnering with The Grand to stage live entertainment featuring local musicians every Saturday night from November 12th until March 31st at The Grand located at 39 Church Street, Hamilton.

The event is open to the public and admission is free.

Taking centre stage on the first night of the series on Saturday November 12th is well-known local band, The Unit.

The Unit features some of Bermuda’s finest professional musicians – Lionel Edwards [Saxophone and Vocals], Vernon Tucker [Drums], Rick Hawke [Guitar and Vocals] and John Lee [Bass and Vocals].

The Unit covers all styles of music including Rock, Reggae, Soca, Latin, Jazz, Blues, Pop and R&B. The band also has the distinction of holding the title of “Best Jazz Band” in Bermuda and represented the country in the 25th annual Havana Jazz Festival in Cuba in 2009.

Director of Community and Cultural Affairs, Heather Whalen said, “We are pleased to partner with The Grand to bring live entertainment to Hamilton on Saturday nights. We hope Bermudians young and old will venture in and hear the sounds of these terrific local bands. The atmosphere will definitely cater to everyone.”

The Unit will perform on Saturday November 12th from 7pm until 9pm.

The Big Chill, with inspired music found in Ibiza, blend live music with DJ beats. They could almost be described as the Big Soul feature Kassie Caines, Tony Brannon and Felix Tod. The Big Chill will perform on November 19th and 26th.

The Wall Street Band is the recipient of The Bermudian magazine’s Best of Bermuda 2016 award for musical group.

Performers include Jamie Zuill, Lloyd Holder, Jesse Seymour, Anthony Darrell, Sheila Smith, Kassandra Caines, Verlencia Aberdeen and Fusion. They will perform on December 3rd, 10th and 17th.
