Frommer’s Names Bermuda ‘Best Place To Go’
Frommer’s has listed Bermuda as one of the best places to travel in 2017, noting the island’s “talcum-soft sands, abundant historic sights, and Easter-egg colored homes” as just a few of its unique draws.
Regarding the island, the Frommer’s story says, “Big changes have come to Bermuda. No, they haven’t lost their veddy British habits of taking high tea or wearing Bermuda shorts—nor would we want them to.”
“But this sun-drenched isle, with its talcum-soft sands, abundant historic sights, and Easter-egg colored homes has been barreling into the future with the recent construction of dozens of new shops, resorts, and restaurants.
“Among the latter: a newcomer from Top Chef winner Marcus Samuelsson in the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, a classic property that just underwent a $100 million overhaul that added a new marina and a spa.”
“Even movie stars are getting involved in tourism: actor Michael Douglas is the owner of a new cottage colony called Ariel Sands that’s under construction. Cherry on top of this sunny sundae?
“The world’s most prestigious regatta, the America’s Cup, will culminate with two months of racing and events here in May and June.”
They failed to mention that the tourists need to bring as many credit cards as they have.
It will cost them a bundle.

You don’t travel much.
I do and I can tell you any vacation in the Caribbean is expensive.
So my advice is to do your research and go vacation to some cheap destination, but if you research destinations like Bermuda the cost is no surprise.
Not every destination is for everybody.
Not according to the great Onion Juice .
He always laments that his frequent travels to the Caribbean are far better than Bermuda . Uninhibited fun . Anything goes . Lovely people and much , much cheaper than here !
“dozens of new”….?
This is what happens when one fails to read properly & just skims through an article. Happens often.
Yes, “dozens of new” but as stated this includes ALL retail outlets, not just visitor accomodation.
Still, one should take the writings of Frommers, & similar, with some degree of skeptisism. The article says Bermuda is ONE OF THE BEST, not THE BEST as per the headline.
What locals should really pay attention to is what makes us different, special even, in the visitors eye. They love the Bermuda shorts & percieved Britishness of the island. Guys, show dem legs in the summer. Stores, fly a Union Jack wherever you can. Might not mean much to us but it makes the customer happy. It is what brings them back.
I thought Ariel Sands was a no-go?
And it’s not like Mr. Douglas chose Bermuda ramdomly, his mother is from here. Great spin, though.
Forgot to mention how boring she is…
Where are they getting their information??? New resorts?? Lol.
It appears that some in media and radio want Bermuda to fail so they can profit from taxes et al of what is left.
We get free press and the world is drawn to a new dawn on Bermuda and they the radio and some print and the net want us to commit suicide.
We will fight them on the beaches and the trenches; we will never give up.
Ariel Sands development is dead. Michael Douglas’ Bermuda house is “for sale” which confirms the cherry on top of the sundae has lost its attraction. BTA should make sure information they feed to Frommer’s and others is uptodate.
Is there any thing around here which even could be considered 2 STAR ?
5 STAR is out of the question !
For this island in the Sun to become a premier destination every thing needs to be 5 STAR, except the price of doing business.
Bad news travels fast.

This happen when our visitors having saved a lifetime depart having experiences a less than ideal vacation.
