Contemporary Gift Store Opening In Hamilton
&Partners — a contemporary gift and design store showcasing beautifully crafted home wares, gifts and minimalist jewelry — will open for business in Hamilton this coming Friday.
&Partners is the creation of husband and wife team, Peter Lapsley and Andrea Sundt, who describe the concept as creating opportunities to partner with local and international artists, designers and makers to showcase and sell their work.
As creative people themselves, the couple are said they are “presenting these products in a manner that creates a sense of discovery,” and plan to “combine this with great customer service,” and they hope people will be as excited about their products as they are.
&Partners will carry items from Skultuna a 400 year old Swedish foundry that makes brass and Silver items; Alex Davidson’s locally hand carved Bermuda cedar, spice and cypress wooden spoons; Danish Design company HAY found throughout Scandinavia and at design centers such as the MOMA gift shop; Bermuda Bee Lovers Beekeeping handcrafted all natural Bermuda Beeswax candles: Still House Jewelry, New York; Throne watches from Brooklyn and much more.
Peter Lapsley, former director of the Bermuda Society of Arts and his wife Andrea, a costume designer and artist originally from Norway, met in New York at Parsons School of Design where they both studied. After several years living and working in Manhattan they made the decision to return home to Bermuda earlier this year to start their own business.
The shop itself is a labour of love for this couple, who both recently had their artwork showcased in the 2016 Bacardi Biennial exhibition at the Bermuda National Gallery. They designed and built all of the cabinetry and furniture in the space themselves, creating a unique and welcoming sales environment.
&Partners — which is located at 46 Par-la-Ville Road, Hamilton in the Vallis Building – will open their doors this Friday and will be open late for Friday night shopping. Regular opening hours will be Monday to Friday from 10am to 6pm, and from 10am to 5pm on Saturdays.
Shop looks amazing. Good luck to both of them.
