Report Of Missing Snorkeler Leads To Search

December 30, 2016

A report of a missing snorkeler earlier this week led to a search by Marine Police before a police land unit located the missing person.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “On Tuesday, December 27 at 2.18pm, a 911 call was received reporting that a snorkeler was missing on the South Shore near the Southampton Princess beach.

“Marine Police vessel HERON 3 was tasked to the area, while urgency broadcasts were commenced on marine VHF radio alerting vessels in the vicinity to the incident.

“A short while later it was reported that a Police Land Unit had found the missing snorkeler and HERON 3 was stood-down and urgency broadcasts were similarly cancelled.”
