Rai-Simons-profile-pic-Bermuda-genericBermuda’s Rai Simons scored in the 55th minute of Chesterfield’s game against Nottingham Forest to help his team come back from 2-0 down to a 3-2 victory.

The club’s match report said, “In the match played at Alfreton Town’s Impact Arena, Forest were on top during the first 45 minutes with young striker Ben Brereton posting a constant threat.

“After testing Lloyd Allinson with an early effort, Brereton opened the scoring after eight minutes, holding off George Lynam before advancing into the area and beating the keeper with a low shot.

“After Virgil Gomis put a low shot wide, Brereton scored his second in the 28th minute from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Curtis Morrison.

“In the latter stages of the half, Connor Dimaio saw his free-kick deflected wide and Jay Smith’s header was cleared off the line.

“Conor Wilkinson pulled a goal back two minutes after the re-start, firing inside Wright’s right-hand post following a lay-off from Rai Simons.

“It was all-square in the 55th minute when Gardner’s incisive pass picked out Simons who side-stepped Wright before slotting the ball into the net.

“Sandwiched in between those two efforts, Allinson came to the rescue, saving well with his legs after Jake Taylor was put through on goal.

“Gardner [78] struck the winner from the penalty spot after Dimaio was fouled by Toby Edser. It was a deserved victory for the Spireites following a much-improved second-half performance.”
