KPMG Round The Grounds Race On March 12

February 28, 2017

The 2017 KPMG Round the Grounds races are set to be held on Sunday, March 12 at 1.00pm.

A spokesperson said, “Hot on the heels of their sponsorship of the 2017 KPMG Bermuda Front Street Mile during International Race Week, KPMG together with Mid Atlantic Athletic Club [M.A.A.C.] are thrilled to present the 2017 KPMG Round the Grounds Junior Running Races now in their 19th year.

“Over the years, races have been won by many of Bermuda’s top athletes, and we hope that soon that legacy will be passed on to their children when they reach participation age!

“These races are the last in the racing season, which stretches from cross country through to the Telford and Dash at Dark Races. Emerging athletes like Paris Mitchell Robinson and Ramiah Brangman, will be hoping to conclude successful seasons on the day.

“The races will take place on Sunday, March 12 from 1:00pm and feature kid-friendly distances ranging from 400 metres for the 4 and 5 year olds, up to the challenging 2.1 mile event for athletes over 13 years.

“Running is a great way to get kids moving and encourage a lifetime of participation, which will build self esteem and ultimately stave off health problems.

“Parents are urged to sign their kids up today at www.racedayworld.com or obtain registration forms from their school sports staff, Sportseller in Washington Mall or download an application form from kpmg.bm. The Raceday World website also includes a useful map of the course.

“It will be necessary for race numbers to be picked up from the Masterworks Courtyard, between 12:00 and 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 11 before the races on Sunday.

“The deadline for paper entries is 4:45pm on Wednesday, March 8. Late entries are available on the Saturday at number pick-up, but there is no opportunity for entry on the day of the races itself.

“Parking for the races is available at the Tucker property on South Road opposite the South Lawn of Botanical Gardens. Allow good time for parking as road congestion will occur ahead of the event.

“Please come along to this family event, where food will be offered by local vendors, and children’s activities will be provided by Masterworks. Cheer on the runners of all ages who will receive a well earned medal at the conclusion of their race.

“A raffle prize will be up for grabs for all participants who complete the course. Results will be posted on the Bermuda Timing Systems website. Please address questions to race director Deborah Norman at runbermudarun@gmail.com.”
