Court: Men Admit Stealing Codfish & Beers

May 3, 2017

Appearing in Magistrates Court, two men pleaded guilty to stealing codfish and Carlsberg Elephant beers with a value of approximately $28.00.

39-year-old Dimitri Robinson and 42-year-old Tyrone Virgil were both charged with stealing codfish and a six-pack of Carlsberg Elephants from the Modern Mart in March of this year, and both pleaded guilty.

Evidence offered by the Crown was that Virgil and Robinson had worked together with Virgil wearing a backpack which held the stolen Elephants.

Their activities had been watched on the store’s CCTV system and both men were accosted by shop staff after they had passed through the cashier stations without paying for the beer and codfish.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo checked with Virgil to see if he was employed, and he told the Magistrate that he was not working but was doing hustles. The Magistrate then told Virgil that he would now have to hustle up $300 to pay his fine.

Robinson ordered to attend the next sitting of the Drug Treatment Court.
