Court: Ten People Appear For Arraignments

Ten people appeared in Court today [May 1] having been charged with alleged offences during the protests on December 2, 2016, with people gathering outside the building as the proceedings took place.

Those appearing included BIU President Chris Furbert, Rev Nicholas Tweed, Lily May Bulford, Glenn Simmons, Neville Goddard,  Arnold Smith, Chris Furbert Jr, Anthony Burgess,  Alafia Henry and David Saltus – who have all previously denied the charges against them.

Glenn Simmons, Lily May Bulford, Chris Furbert, Nicholas Tweed, Neville Goddard, Anthony Burgess, Chris Furbert Jr, and David Saltus have been charged with interference with Ministers contrary to section 97[b] of the Criminal Code; and obstruction contrary to section 2[n] of the Summary Offences Act 1926; while Arnold Smith and Alafia Henry have been charged with interference with Ministers.

The lawyers appearing for them were Jerome Lynch QC, Delroy Duncan and Michael Scott.

Justice Greaves set a mention date of May 26th, and extended the $1,000 bail for each of the ten.
