Bermuda To Host 2018 ISBHF Championships
The International Street & Ball Hockey Federation says it is “proud and honoured” to announce that the next ISBHF World Masters Championship will be hosted in Bermuda by the Bermuda Ball Hockey Association [BBHA] from September 26 to September 30, 2018.
A spokesperson said, “ISBHF President George ‘Coach’ Gortsos was hosted by the BBHA from August 10-12th and was shown just an absolutely fantastic time showcasing all that the beautiful island has to offer visitors and spectators alike.
“In case you missed the president’s blog from his stay, here is a sample that really encompasses the experience that competitive masters players are going to experience.”
“We headed out into the ocean to a wonderful cove where we were met by other members of the Bermuda team. Anchors were put down and 5 boats were joined as one as the shore line about 200-250 meters away from us teased us with a pristine white beach. For me I jumped in the warm refreshing waters and soaked in them for hours.
“What really made a impact on me as I watched this community is how they do this with their kids and spouses every Saturday. This is an amazing way for these people to bond and relax.”
“This is a watershed moment for ISBHF to have the opportunity to have one its premiere world championship tournaments hosted in such an unprecedented, gorgeous atmosphere. Players doing battle by day, followed by beautiful views and a laid-back atmosphere after sunset; this will certainly go down as one of the most memorable championship tournaments in the history of international ball hockey.
“The ISBHF wishes to express genuine appreciation to the BBHA for submitting a professional bid, for hosting Mr. Gortsos on behalf of ISBHF, and most importantly of all, for opening its doors to the world of competitive ball hockey at the Masters level!
“And don’t forget about the inaugural Bermuda Ball Hockey Classic being hosted this September 28 to October 2.”
