September 12, 2017

Bermudian goalkeeper Detre Bell continues to impress, producing “the best save of the game for either team” to help his team to a 1 – 0 victory over Sacramento State.

Bell plays for California State University, and the school’s match report said, “The Runners and the Hornets played a scoreless first half in which neither team had a great scoring chance.

“The Hornets did get three shots off in the half, but none really tested goalkeeper Detre Bell of the Runners. CSUB was offside three times in the first half to the Hornets’ one. Nguyen of the Runners picked up the only yellow card of the half for either team.

“In the second half, it was more of the same, not many quality scoring chances for either team. In the 71st minute, Bell came up with the best save of the game for either team to keep the game scoreless.”

“Nguyen scored near the end of the first overtime [98th minute] to give CSUB the win and help the Runners improve to 2-1 on the year.
