Football: Robin Hood & PHC Zebras Win

Robin Hood defeated the Somerset Trojans 4-0, while the PHC Zebras recorded a 2-0 victory over Devonshire Cougars in Dudley Eve football action.

Robin Hood 4 – Somerset Trojans 0

The Somerset Trojans were knocked out of the Dudley Eve Trophy competition following their second consecutive 4 – 0 defeat, this time to Robin Hood.

It only took 6 minutes for Robin Hood to take the lead through an Antwan Russell goal, and then Shakir Smith doubled the Robin Hood lead when he found the back of the net in the 24th minute, the score remained 2 – 0 at the break.

A defensive error in the 51st minute resulted in Robin Hood going ahead 3 – 0, a back pass was intercepted by Lejuan Simmons and he sneaked between a defender and advancing goalkeeper to score in an empty net.

The final goal of the game saw Russell spray the ball from the right side of the field and his cross found Smith, who controlled the ball and unleashed a left footed shot that struck the upright and went in with the goalkeeper having no chance.

Devonshire Cougars 0 – PHC Zebras 2

The second match of the day saw the PHC Zebras come out looking to put the Devonshire Cougars on the back foot.

Right from the start, for long periods of time PHC made the Devonshire Cougars chase, but as the Devonshire Cougars started to come into the game Casey Castle struck a shot from the edge of the box that the Devonshire Cougars goalkeeper Kioshi Trott could only get a finger tip on, but could not prevent it from going in.

The teams went to the break with the score still 1 – 0.

The second half produced 1 goal and it was the PHC Zebras who scored again, Marco Warren would find the back of the net as the PHC Zebras have all but advanced to the semi-final.
