The Ministry of Public Works advised that Coot Pond Road between Tobacco Bay and Barry Road in St George’s will be closed — from October 9th to the end of November — to facilitate the construction of the realigned Barry Road.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Public Works is advising that Coot Pond Road between Tobacco Bay and Barry Road, St George’s will be closed to facilitate the construction of the realigned Barry Road.

“This closure will begin Monday 9th October 2017 around 7.30 am and is anticipated to remain in place until the end of November 2017.

“During this closure there will be no access for motorists from the “pink house” [# 22 Coot Pond Road] near Tobacco Bay through to the Barry Road Junction.

“Motorists wishing to visit Fort St. Catherine’s, Blackbeard’s Restaurant or St. Catherine’s Beach will need to take the detour route.

“Motorists are advised that the detour route to visit the Fort St. Catherine’s, Blackbeard’s Restaurant and St. Catherine’s Beach is via Old Military Road and the east section of Barry Road.

“Pedestrians will still be able to walk along Coot Pond Road from Tobacco Bay to Fort St. Catherine, Blackbeard’s Restaurant and St. Catherine Beach via the Tobacco Bay Park old Golf Course Path off of Coot Pond Road after pink house # 22.

“The Ministry of Public Works wishes to encourage the full cooperation of the motoring public and apologizes for any inconvenience that may result.”
