Workshop Opportunity For Local Teachers
Warwick Academy is hosting a series of courses for all primary and secondary teachers on the island next week, beginning on Monday, October 16.
A spokesperson said, “Professional Development is always on the top of Warwick Academy’s list of priorities and as a result they are welcoming to the school two outstanding professionals from the UK to lead and develop mathematics and literacy, Adam Unwin-Berrey and Sue McVicar.
“Adam Unwin-Berrey, is one of the UK’s leading mathematics educators who is passionate about mathematics education. As well as having a wide range of experience leading mathematics in all sectors, Adam has been actively engaged in research, completing projects funded by the National Centre for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics.
“His research has influenced his development of the mastery flow model as a method which has been repeatedly recognised by Ofsted as outstanding practice in the delivery of maths and is now used in over 800 primary and secondary schools in the UK.”
Adam Unwin-Berrey:
“Adam has written, developed and delivered numerous professional development sessions, both nationally and internationally. Sue McVicar has worked as a literacy specialist and is recognised by Ofsted to have outstanding practice. With experience Leading Literacy Teaching for local authorities in the UK, she specialises in demonstrating, sharing and empowering good practice with other teachers.
“Sue is recognised by the National College of Teaching and Learning as a specialist teacher in literacy.
“In addition to working with staff and students at Warwick Academy, both of these professionals are offering a series of courses for all primary and middle school teachers on the island. The aim of these courses is to provide teachers with the confidence and skills to structure and teach outstanding literacy and mathematics lessons in the primary and middle school.
