“Outstanding” Results For Warwick Academy

September 8, 2019

Warwick Academy announced their IGCSE results, with the school extending their congratulations to the students for achieving “outstanding” results.

A spokesperson said, “On the back of very strong Sixth Form examination results released at the start of the summer, Warwick Academy announced outstanding IGCSE results.

“There has been much written in the U.K. media over the past two years about the difficulty of the new, more challenging, IGCSE exams and some questions asked as to how the new 9-1 grades would turn out for students. In Warwick’s case the students rose to the challenge.

“The tried and tested yardstick, widely used by schools, for measuring student success across a Year group is them achieving 5 grade C/4s and above. 96.5% of students achieved this benchmark, recording the school’s ‘best ever’ result. 88.3% of all the distinct subjects written were at C/4 or better resulting in another record high for Warwick Academy. Again, this compares very favourably to the U.K. where students achieved 67.3% grades at C/4 and above.

“Students also excelled at the top grades. 36.4% A*& A and 9/8/7 grades were achieved also significantly above the U.K. at 20.8%; and 12.5% of the 9-1 grades were the new elusive grade 9 [a A**] designed to differentiate between the very top students. By comparison this was 4.5% in the U.K.

“It is also important to note that W.A. students are involved in so much more than just their academics. Whilst the academic success is key, they also made significant contributions to sports, music, drama, community service, clubs, leadership posts and other initiatives whilst making sure their academics were in the right place.

“There was also tremendous individual success. Of note is Noah Da Silva who achieved straight A*s and 9s – a feat that only 0.1% of the IGCSE candidates worldwide achieved.

The top 10 students were:

  • Noah Da Silva – 10A* [5 are 9s]
  • An Mei Daniels –9A*, 1A & 2B [5 are 9s]
  • Jayden Parker –9A* & 1B [3 are 9s]
  • Isobelle Crayford –7A* & 3A [3 are 9s]
  • Liam Flannery –6A*, 2A & 2B [4 are 9s]
  • Grace Arrowsmith –4A* & 6A [1 is a 9]
  • Myah Bridgewater –4A*, 5A & 1B [2 are 9s]
  • Andrew DaSilva –4A*, 4A & 2B
  • Cameron Pollett –4A*, 2A & 3B [2 are 9s]
  • Adam McDonald –5A*, 1A, 3B & 1C [1 is a 9]

Principal, Mr. David Horan said, “A tremendous amount of hard work from the students and staff goes into achieving results like these.

“I extend my congratulations to all our students and pass on my thanks to our staff who either directly or indirectly contributed to their success during their time at Warwick Academy.”

  1. In many instances concerning these results, students are naturally bright
Hence, all some of these students need is guidance and direction from a staff member who teaches in a specific discipline.
It is your mediocre to LOWER LEVEL students who require more work, TEACHING.
A great teacher is known for getting great results from his/her mediocre and lower level students!!
The “cream of the crop” do well ANYWAY!!!

    • Winston says:

You are not reading carefully enough – it says:’….student success across a Year group is them achieving 5 grade C/4s and above. 96.5% of students achieved this benchmark, recording the school’s ‘best ever’ result. 88.3% of all the distinct subjects written were at C/4 or better resulting in another record high for Warwick Academy. This recognises ALL students not just the top.

and the last sentence: ‘I extend my congratulations to all our students…’

      Well done to all!

  2. Well done says:
