MacKrill & Schrum Recognised In Citywealth

Partners Alison MacKrill and Vanessa Schrum from law firm Appleby have been recognised in Citywealth’s 2017 report ‘IFC PowerWomen Top 200’.

The annual report profiles 200 of the most powerful women in government, private wealth, education, private client advisory and philanthropy across the international financial centres.

The IFC PowerWomen Top 200 list focuses on influencers as well as professionals and celebrates powerful women from diverse backgrounds. It recognises women of achievement who are trailblazers in their field, helping to promote business excellence in their home jurisdiction and consolidating the reputations of the financial services industry globally.

Alison MacKrill, Group Partner and Local Practice Group Head of the Private Client and Trusts department in the Guernsey office, joined Appleby in 2017. She has extensive experience advising clients in various offshore jurisdictions, having been called to the Bermuda bar in 2000 and having worked in Guernsey for the last fourteen years. Ms MacKrill’s broad legal experience covers trust advisory work, employee share schemes and commercial trusts, along with advising on regulatory matters.

Ms MacKrill has previously been awarded the STEP Founder´s Award for Outstanding Achievement and the Corporate Livewire – Guernsey Private Client Lawyer of the Year. She has consistently been honoured by Citywealth and International Who´s Who Legal. She is a past chairman of the Guernsey branch of STEP.

Vanessa Schrum is a Partner and Local Practice Group Head of the Private Client and Trusts department in Bermuda. Ms Schrum has extensive experience on a wide range of trust and estate planning matters.

She regularly advises on the use of Bermuda private and commercial trust structures [including purpose trusts and unit trusts], pension trusts, trust restructuring often with a multi-jurisdictional element, the administration of complex and large estates and all areas of probate and equity matters in Bermuda, including applications to the Supreme Court of Bermuda.

Ms Schrum has been awarded professional accolades throughout her career. She is recognised in the Chambers Global 2017 High Net Worth guide, was named ‘Woman of the Year’ for the Leadership, Professional Services category at the 2017 Citywealth Power Women Awards, and most recently was featured in the ´Women in Business Law´ 2017 guide as one of the leading Trusts and Estates practitioners in the world.
