Video: Flora Duffy On ITU Triathlon In Bermuda
With some 100 days to go until the ITU World Triathlon Series in Bermuda, Flora Duffy provides some insight into the course and event, which is expected to attract top triathletes from all over the world.
The event in Bermuda will be the second stop on an eight-country circuit, ending in Australia for the grand final, and the organisers said Bermuda expects 120 top triathletes from all countries to descend on our shores for the April 28th competition.
The reigning World Champion is none other than Bermuda’s own Flora Duffy, who was first inspired when she watched ITU professional racing in Bermuda at just eight years old.
After making impressive showings all over the world, she will be returning home to compete on her home soil, giving Bermudians the chance to watch our own world champion in action.
Corkscrew Hill is Bermuda’s signature feature of the ITU World Triathlon Series, and Ms. Duffy is apparently not at all phased by the prospect of riding up the hill – in fact she laughs about it in this short video feature.
The organisers said, “Locals are encouraged to register to compete in the Age Group races, in either Sprint or Olympic distances. There is no qualifying criteria and you too can ride up Corkscrew Hill!
“It’s advisable for those with high fitness levels or those who wish to start training seriously today. Registration for the Age Group races can be done online.
“Organisers are also in need of volunteers for the day on Saturday, April 28th. Volunteers can register online.”
