Liverpool Defeat Nahki Wells & Burnley 2-1

Bermuda’s Nahki Wells came on late in the game to make his third appearance in the English Premier League as Burnley were defeated 2-1 by Liverpool in their first game of the new year today [Jan 1].

Playing in front of 21,756 fans, neither team scored in the first half and they went into the break tied 0 – 0, however in the 61st minute Sadio Mane broke the deadlock, when his strike from inside the area found the top corner to put Liverpool up 1 – 0.

Both teams made substitutions approximately 70 minutes into the match, with Burnley’s Sam Vokes replacing Jeff Hendrick, while Roberto Firmino replaced Liverpool goal scorer Sadio Mane.

Then in the 86th minute, Nahki Wells came on, replacing Scott Arfield to make his third appearance in English Premier League.

Burnley then pulled even when Johann Berg Gudmundsson scored in the 87th minute, however in the final minutes of the game Liverpool scored again, with Ragnar Klavan putting his team up 2-1 to claim the win.
