Around 11:40pm on Tuesday, police responded to a robbery at Maxi Mart in Sandys, in which a man “brandishing a bladed article and demanded money,” however he “was unable to get any cash and made good his escape with a quantity of tobacco and cigarette papers.”
A police spokesperson said, “Around 11:40pm Tuesday, February 6th police officers responded to a reported robbery at Maxi Mart in Sandys parish.
“It appears that a lone male, described as approximately 6 feet 4 inches tall of slim build wearing dark coloured clothing, entered the store brandishing a bladed article and demanded money.
“However, the suspect was unable to get any cash and made good his escape with a quantity of tobacco and cigarette papers.
“No one was hurt during the incident. Police officers searched the surrounding area for the suspect, but he was not located.
“Inquiries continue and any witnesses or persons with relevant information are asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744 or the independent and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.”
At 6’4″ he shouldn’t be too tough to track down. He’ll be the guy selling hand rolled smokes.
Drug addict.
I guess he said he’s not leaving emptyhanded. “Gimme some cigs instead then”
I have noted it is rare to see police officers parked for a few minutes from time to time outside of business establishments, in particular near closing times in the eastern and western ends of the Island…but no doubt Front Street will have them every evening.
