Argus Donates Water Stations To Four Schools

March 21, 2018

In celebration of World Water Day, the Argus Group has donated bottle filling stations to four public schools.

The four schools to receive Elkay EZH2O RetroFit Bottle Filling Stations are Heron Bay Primary, Northlands Primary, TN Tatem Middle School and Victor Scott Primary.

These stations will increase access to drinking water at the schools; enabling students to quickly and neatly refill their water bottles and reduce germ transfer with “no-touch” activation and automatic shut off features.

Additionally, each water station has a tracking system on it that keeps count of how many 20 oz. plastic water bottles have been saved from waste. It is hoped that this will reinforce the importance of reducing waste and highlight the environmental aspect to students.

Argus noted they are “a partner of the Department of Health’s Healthy Schools initiative, which aims to promote mindfulness about nutrition in students and develop their understanding of the benefits of a well-balanced diet and lifestyle.

“Argus also supports the Premier’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition, a programme provided through schools designed to help our children on the path to a lifetime of good health

“The water stations have been installed in time for World Water Day, an annual awareness day coordinated by the UN, which encourages consideration about the importance of universal access to clean, fresh water and sanitation.”

Shakira Warner, Population Health Specialist of The Argus Group, says: “We are delighted to be able to celebrate World Water Day by supporting our local schools.

“At Argus we believe in the importance of health and wellness and these water stations will encourage students to make healthy choices to stay hydrated. We are also optimistic that these water stations will raise awareness of and reduce plastic waste.”

Marie Beach Johnson, Healthy Schools Coordinator and Co-chair of the Premier’s Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition at the Department of Health, says: “We are grateful to Argus for their continuing support of Healthy Schools and for promoting healthy habits in the community.

“We strongly believe that water is the healthiest choice of drink for students and these water stations will allow students to be able to top up their water bottles conveniently.”
