Contemporary Art Experience At Casemates
The ‘Now Contemporary Art Experience’ will be active at Casemates in Dockyard until Wednesday, May 16, with the exhibit featuring new works by 13 Bermudian artists.
A spokesperson said, “The basic idea behind creating NOW was my feeling that we need spaces to see non traditional artworks.”
“We were lucky enough to have the National Museum be interested in the idea for a two month experimental show in buildings they own at Casemates, and they have been great partners in getting the event going.”
“Also the Bermuda Tourism Authority and Bermuda Arts Council saw the value in creating an art event that promotes contemporary Bermudian artistic practices, a project that gives local artists a freedom to create in new ways in a cool historic setting where tourists can also engage with our present day culture.”
“All in all its been embraced by a wide range of people, and everyone seems excited by both the art on display and the possibility to explore part of the old Casemates grounds.
“Its our hope that this idea can grow into a larger arts festival in the years to come.
“It is open from 10.00am to 4.00pm from Tuesday through Sunday, and sponsored by the National Museum of Bermuda, The Bermuda Arts Council and the Bermuda Tourism Authority.”
