Whitney Institute held their second annual Seniors’ Tea recently, with over 200 guests attending the school sponsored initiative, which serves as a community service event.

“The staff and students worked as a team to put on this festive event. This is our way of saying thank you to the men and women who have forged a trail so that we can enjoy the rights and privileges that we experience today,” a spokesperson said.

“Our guests were treated to entertainment by our students in the form of liturgical dance [Jade Smith, Marie Smith], poetry [Sanaa Berkeley, Jahde’ Simmons, Kallan Richardson], musical selections [Emanuel Humphry, Jonah Trott, Sven Curley] and singing [Kahzi Sealey].

“Our special guest performers included our WIMS Board Chairman [Pastor Terence Stovell], Dwayne Robinson, Sheila Smith and Toni Bari. Our guest of honour was Mrs. Winifred Childs, Whitney Institute’s oldest surviving student.

“Those in attendance shared that they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and they are looking forward to next year’s tea.”
