What Are Your Views On Future Of Tourism?

March 28, 2018

The Bermuda Tourism Authority is calling on Bermudians to add their voices to the National Tourism Plan. An online survey, which launched today, asks people to share their viewpoints on the future of tourism on the island.

“We launched this online survey because collaboration is our surest pathway to a successful plan. We don’t want this to be the tourism industry’s plan, we hope this becomes all of Bermuda’s tourism vision for the future,” said Kevin Dallas, Bermuda Tourism Authority CEO.

The BTA said, “The National Tourism Plan survey includes the opportunity for written responses that allow respondents to suggest whatever they choose, instead of solely relying on multiple choice answers.

“While there are only six questions, which don’t require a large time commitment, respondents can be as thoughtful as they like with their contributions.

“The survey is available online here. The deadline is April 13, 2018.

“Meantime, the survey will also be available on Good Friday at the #LoveMyBermuda Community Day at the Pembroke Hamilton Club field in Warwick. The Bermuda Tourism Authority is returning to the event with a booth and surveys will be on-hand for the public to complete.

“The theme of the booth focuses on what Bermudians love about the island because typically those are also the things visitors enjoy doing. There will be family-friendly games and prizes on-site to complement kite-flying and other activities.”

Poor under the present homophobic, dictatorial and friends and family govt!

  2. PANGAEA says:

To start with we have got a one sided Government.

The success or failure of this island is solely dependant on the Government as it is in every country.

The sooner both parties learn to work together the better.

In other words “Up your game “.

GIve our visitors 10,000 reasons for coming here. not one in a million.

They are working together, to destroy Bermuda.

As long as Jamahl stays out of the picture and let’s the BTA take care of our product I think we should be fine.

  5. D Wade says:

Is the survey only for Bermudians?

  6. Rocky5 says:

This is a waste of time. Most Bermudians will say Tourist come to visit the friendly people here which is utter nonsense. Visitors come for sun, surf & sex along with our beautiful clean, free, pink sand beaches etc.

  7. Joe Bloggs says:

I loved tourism when we had it. Unfortunately, we priced ourselves out of the market over 30 years ago. That is why we could not accommodate the 5,000 or so people who came here for the Island Games in 2013. We have lost all of the beds and Bermudiana Hotel, Castle Harbour Hotel, Lowes Bermuda Beach/Club Med, Sonesta Beach, Palmetto Bay Hotel and most of Elbow Beach in the last 30 or so years.

So called “business Tourism” is not tourism. It is people coming here for meetings, not for the sake of Bermuda.

    Serving is not servitude.
Anti LGBT hyperbole was a billion dollar self inflicted wound. Stop denying it, yes it was :-) Now lets attend to the bleeding.
    Sports tourism should be nurtured.
Bermudians are not “the friendliest people the world” Yes they are very pleasant as a rule, but this oft quoted claim creates a deluded sense of self worth.
Evert year dozens of new destinations spring up vying for tourism dollars. Rest on your laurels at your peril.
    Tourists read the comments section………OJ
Lets not forget that tourism is a distant second in the economic engine of Bermuda to International business (for now)
International Business massively props up and disguises the dire truth of the pure tourism figures.
The natural beauty of the Island are its attraction and the likes of ATV rides while fun for a few will degrade the overall attractiveness of that natural beauty.
    I could go on.

Don’t be deceived…..Bermuda and the people of Bermuda are the package deal that tourist come to visit. Value for money will always be sought after. If we continue to chase the dollar first, and ignore the social constructs that made Bermuda another world……then all you have is another beautiful location where no one feels comfortable. Put Bermudians first and the Tourism product will be marketable. If you alienate a people, everything is destroyed. No one feels safe in a place where everyone is fighting for survival.

Isn’t it about all of us. Meaning…..per ca-pita…..we should all partake.
