Bermuda’s U17 Women’s Team Arrive Home
There were cheers as the Bermuda Women’s Under 17 National team arrived back at the LF Wade International Airport last night.
The team arrived home after the remainder of the CONCACAF World Cup Women’s Under 17 Qualifiers was cancelled due to unrest in Nicaragua, and were greeted by friends, family, the Minister of Sports Michael Weeks as well as the Director of Youth & Sports Norbert Simons.
Minister Weeks said, “I am glad that our ambassadors are home safely, we the Government reached out to see what we could do to assist and just to make sure our girls and officials were doing well.”
Captain Danni Watson said, “I want to thank Bermuda for all the support, we felt the love and we will be ready whenever they say the tournament is back on.”
Assistant Coach Naquita Robinson said, “Things changed drastically in a matter of moments, we went from preparing for a match against the United States to preparing to leave the country, but we are all ready for whenever they resume the tournament.”
