Bermuda Softball Season Week #9 Results

Stalin Lopez’ big night led Platano Power to victory over the Beach Bums 22-13 on Monday in a B Division softball game. Lopez [4-5] smashed three homers as he plated seven runners in the triumph. Leadoff man Gensi Tafta was 5-6 and scored four times while Albert Acevedo, Titi Drew and Wascar Alacantara all had four hits.

Docksiders remained undefeated in the A Division against Sunglass & Watch Shop, but it wasn’t an easy victory against the lower division side. Docksiders won 9-5 and improved their record to 7-0.

The Beach came back on Thursday to knock off A Division team Blue Wahoos 20-11. In Monday’s game, Dylan DeSilva was 3-4 with a home run and four RBI for the Bums. Lindsay Fisher [3-4] and Ryan Stearns [4-4] both knocked in three runs in the losing cause.

X-Bats slipped past A Division club Paraquet Flyers 7-6 to retain first place in the B Division. Paraquet scored four runs in the six to draw close, two scoring on a Steve O’Flynn homer, but it wasn’t enough. Brett Farlow [2-3] hit a three-run homer in the third inning to help spark X-Bats to the win. Robbie Bailey and Andrew Barnes were 2-3 at the top of the order for the victors.

Hakuna Matata Charters reeled in FIU – Scared Hitless for a 27-15 B Division victory.

Corporation of Hamilton looked like they might get their first victory as they quickly scored ten runs to get up on Chubb Kings. However, it was all Chubb after that as the Kings won 27-11.

In the C Division, Buffaloes pulled off the upset of the week when they slipped past previously unbeaten Super Express 7-6. Shooters fall to 6-1 and now lead the Buffaloes by one game.

Ragamuffins doubled up Shooters 16-8 in the other C Division contest.

Hardknockz took the stripes off of PHC Zebras 26-8 in Women’s Division play. Jaylynn Hines was 5-5 in the cleanup spot for Harknockz. Hines had a double and triple and knocked in three runs. Teammates Tache King [w-w, 4 RBI] and jade Waver [3-4, 2 RBI] also played leading roles in the victory. Akanke Parsons was 3-4 for PHC while teammates Tahirah Hill, Zinzi Swan and Ari Tucker all had two hits apiece.

In the Corporate Division, Athene Warriors used the 15-run mercy rule to help end their game against KPMG 19-4. The other match saw Sea Venture Mini Me’s easily beat Butterfield & Vallis Sliders 22-7.

All games are played at Michael Preece stadium at Bernard Park on Mondays through Thursdays starting at 6 pm.
