After being recognized in the annual Best of Bermuda awards as as the best Charity/Community Service, OUTBermuda said they are “inspired and motivated by the community in which we operate and we are incredibly grateful for all the support that we receive and honoured to be recognised.”

OUTBermuda – who recently successfully challenged the same sex marriage laws in court – won for the category of Charity/Community Service Organisation, tied with Big Brothers Big Sisters, in the recently announced Bermudian Magazine awards.

A spokesperson said, “Our team has had an incredibly busy and fulfilling last couple of years, from our In Good Company Event to our summer Family Fun Day last August through to this year where we had a very successful book reading and community social event, to our participation in the successful litigation relating to marriage equality.

“We are inspired and motivated by the community in which we operate and we are incredibly grateful for all the support that we receive and honoured to be recognised by The Bermudian Magazine.”

“OUTBermuda is a registered charity with the aim of promoting and supporting the “wellbeing, health, dignity, security, safety and protection of the LGBTQ community in Bermuda by providing educational resources on issues of diversity, inclusiveness, awareness and acceptance as regards LGBTQ people, and seeks generally to advance human rights, conflict resolution and the promotion of equality and diversity relating to the LGBTQ community in Bermuda. With the current state of affairs, this is no easy task and we are grateful that there are passionate, smart and willing members to take it on.”
