Mirrors Offers Free Junior Forum SuperCamp
The Mirrors Programme will be hosting a six-day Junior Forum SuperCamp for middle schoolers from Tuesday, August 21 to Sunday, August 26 at Willowbank Resort and Conference Centre in Somerset.
Minister of Social Development and Sports Michael Weeks said, “This is an opportunity for students aged 11 to 13 years to engage in a camp with a focus on communication, critical thinking and character development as well as innovation learning strategies and academic skills.”
A spokesperson said, “Only 15 spaces remain available. This fully subsidized six-day Mirrors Camp will give 60 middle school students an incredible opportunity to develop their socio-emotional skills, to build and maintain relationships with others more effectively, and gain neuroscience-based learning techniques to enhance their school performance.
“SuperCamp is not a typical classroom or camp experience; it uses a structured curriculum to provide students with intensive personal development and learning strategies to be more effective learners. Students will be introduced to the ‘8 Keys of Excellence’, which focus on developing values-based behavior.
“Mirrors SuperCamp keeps student minds and bodies moving and engaged throughout the day as they learn and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.
“A two-day parent workshop is also being offered in conjunction with the camp for parents of students who participate. The two-day workshop is an opportunity for parents to be introduced to the 8 Keys of Excellence and the concepts provided to students during their four-day workshop and will run from Saturday August 25th to Sunday August 26th .
“To register your child for camp and sign up for the parent workshop please contact Mirrors’ Recruitment Manager, Nicola Paugh, on nmpaugh@gov.bm or call the Mirrors office on 294-9291. Registration forms must be received by July 25th.”
