Flora Duffy Withdraws From Edmonton Triathlon

July 24, 2018

Bermuda’s Flora Duffy said she “won’t be suiting up for the World Triathlon Series event in Edmonton on the weekend” as in an aim to keep the series alive, she raced in Hamburg but “that proved to be too soon and set me back again.”

In a post on her Instagram page, Ms Duffy said, “Sadly, I won’t be suiting up for the World Triathlon Series event in Edmonton on the weekend. I’m devastated.”

Duffy continued, “I’m angry! A tough learning curve and of course hindsight is 20/20. Wishing I had done things a little differently as I returned from Yokohama but lessons learnt!”

“To keep the series alive, I raced in Hamburg but that proved to be too soon and set me back again. So pulling out of Edmonton means I have no chance to win or podium in the series.

“The previous two years racing a series for the world title has been great but this year I am wishing it was a one day world championships!! It sounds simple to put together 6 good races, but in reality you need a bit of luck and everything to go smoothly.”

Duffy concluded, “I’m hoping to be back for the Grand Final on the GC. Now to get this foot fixed!”

Take it easy, Flora, better to heal properly than continue adding injury to injury. We are all behind you! Take your time and get well soon!
