‘Increased Security Measures’ At Post Office
The Ministry for Cabinet Office with Responsibility for Government Reform said that beginning on Monday, August 20, the Bermuda Post Office will “implement increased security measures” at the General Post Office [GPO] on Church Street in Hamilton.
The Ministry said, “The public should be aware of the following changes:
- “After-hour access to GPO mailboxes will be from 6:00 pm until 7:00 am, Monday to Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday.
- “After-hour access to GPO mailboxes will be via keypad entry only. Mailbox users will be required to use their personal identification number [PIN] to enter.
- “GPO Administrative Office employees and other Government employees who work in the GPO building will still have after-hour access via swipe entry through the employee entrance on Church Street.
“The public is encouraged to take advantage of sub post office mail drops located throughout the island after regular hours.
“The Bermuda Post Office thanks the community for their cooperation as they work to ensure the safety and security of their customers, employees and the general public.”
With 5 or 6 hundred mailboxes, each creating their own PIN number, how hard is it going to be to guess a random 4 or even 5 digit access code?
I’m sure even Jinx could figure out a lucky PIN number from a possible 500 options.
