Bermuda Softball League Action Continues

Beach Bums claimed the B Division title by sweeping FIU Scared Hitless three games to none. The Bums won the final game of the best of five series as they slipped past FIU 15 to 14. The previous week the Beach took the second contest 16-7 and opened the series with an 18-7 victory.

Docksiders advanced to the A/B Division finals with a 15-10 triumph over X-Bats. Docksiders took the series 2-1 with X-Bats blemishing the Pub teams’ record with their first loss of the season.

Blue Wahoos will be Docksiders opponent in the final having downed Paraquet Flyers twice, 24-10 and 20-16.

Butterfield & Vallis Sliders likewise blemished the unbeaten record of Sea Venture Mini Me’s with a 20-16 come from behind win in the Corporate Division finals. Sea Venture still leads the best of five series 2-1.

Richard Madeiros plated six runs in a 3-3 batting performance for Butterfield & Vallis. Teammates Chris Mayne [3-4, 6 RBI] and Aaron Bloom [3-5] also contributed to the victory. Preston Mallory, Sarah Robinson, and Matthew Hayward were all 3-5 for Sea Venture while Billy Montgomery was 3-4.

Raggamuffins lead the C Division finals against Buffaloes after a 17-8 victory. Earlier, Raggamuffins had levelled the series 1-1 in a hard-fought 14-8 win.

In the Women’s Division, Hardknockz exploded for 19 runs in the sixth inning to beat PHC Zebras 31-21. Hardknocks lead the series 2-0. Latisha Daniels, Jade Weaver, Latrece Fray, and Sarah Robinson were all 4-6 for Hardknockz with Fray driving home six runs. Leadoff batter Tahirah Hill was 4-6 for PHC while teammates Tawana Fox, Zinzi Swan, Akanke Parsons, and Isheena Symonds all had three hits.

The finals should wrap up this week with games starting at 7pm and 8:30 pm at the Michael Preece Softball Diamond at Bernard Park.
