Court: Men Charged With Child Pornography
Two people were charged today [Sept 21] in Magistrates Court with offences involving child pornography.
A 40-year-old guest worker was charged with eight counts involving accessing child pornography. The offenses were said to involve thousands of images, and said to have occurred on dates between February 2014 and December 2017.
The defendant was not required to enter a plea as the charges must be heard in the Supreme Court, and he was granted bail in the amount of $10,000 with a like surety or $20,000 without surety.
In another case, a 69-year-old man was charged with accessing child pornography, with the offences alleged to have occurred between 2015 and 2017, and involve over 100 videos and hundreds of images.
The man was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard in the Supreme Court, and he was granted bail in the amount of $6,000 with a like surety.
Both defendants, who cannot be named at this stage for legal reasons, must surrender their travel documents to the court.
The matters were sent to the Supreme Court for the November 1st arraignment session.
