Masters World Ball Hockey Championships Bermuda Sept 2018The Masters World Ball Hockey Championships is set to welcome about 600 players and spectators, the BTA said, with matches set to kick off tomorrow [Sept 25].

A spokesperson said, “Ball hockey is an exciting sport growing in prominence and attracting visitors to the island. That’s why the Bermuda Tourism Authority is a proud sponsor of the Masters World Ball Hockey Championships.

“The tournament is welcoming about 600 players and spectators out here for games taking place at Pembroke Community Centre on the North Shore and in the Oracle shed at Dockyard.

“Seventeen men’s and women’s teams, including squads from Bermuda, will do battle in two picturesque locations.

“The public is encouraged to attend. The game schedule is available online. Typically the sport is played indoors, but Bermuda is putting her own mark on the tournament with much of the competition happening outside.

“The shift from summer to fall marks the unofficial start to the sports tourism season in Bermuda. The island’s temperate climate and top-notch sporting facilities make her ideal to host teams all the way through spring. The volume of visiting sports teams helps keep Bermuda’s tourism industry buzzing year-round.

“Get the sports tourism season started with the World Ball Hockey Championships this week from Tuesday through Sunday.”
