Cycle & Police Car Collide On Horseshoe Road

[Updated] Emergency services responded to an incident on Horseshoe Road in Southampton tonight [Oct 28] that has resulted in a portion of Horseshoe Road near the junction with West Avenue being closed off with police vehicles and crime scene tape.

A motorcycle can be seen laying in the road and nearby residents report seeing police searching the area with flashlights. A Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service truck also attended, together with an ambulance which we understand transported someone from the scene. Further details are limited at this time, however we will update as able.

Update 12.00pm, Oct 29: A police spokesperson said, “Inquiries are currently underway after a collision involving a male motorcyclist and a police vehicle occurred in the Horseshoe Road, South Avenue Southampton area near Southampton Rangers Sports Club around 10pm Sunday [October 28th] as the premises was closing.

“The rider, believed to be a 25 year old Hamilton parish man, apparently sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to hospital via ambulance, but left before being assessed by medical staff.

“There were no other injuries reported. However, both vehicles involved were damaged.

“The scene has been processed by the relevant police personnel and the circumstances of this incident are still being ascertained. Any witnesses are asked to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.”
