Minister Attends BIU Housekeeping Workshop
Earlier today, the Minister of Economic Development and Tourism Jamahl Simmons attended a Health and Safety Workshop for housekeepers organized by the Bermuda Industrial Union at the BIU headquarters.
Approximately 30 participants, consisting of Hotel Room Attendants, Supervisors and Executive Housekeepers attended and the Minister provided opening remarks.
Minister Simmons said, “Our Housekeepers are the unsung heroes of Bermuda Tourism. It is they who not only have the responsibility of maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness at our properties but also do it with the warm and cheerful personality for which Bermudians are renowned. You work hard, you rarely receive the accolades you deserve and I am pleased to take this opportunity to salute you!
“The Government is committed to working with our industry partners to get more Bermudians into the tourism industry, advancing within the tourism industry and taking up leadership roles within the tourism industry. I encourage each of you to take advantage of the existing and expanding training opportunities that will enable you to progress to as high as you desire, within tourism.”

Jamal STOP WITH THE PHOTO OPs. You were going to do so much and had a big master plan for the Casino Gaming Dept. You pushed out the man at the front that was getting things done. You had all the answers. What have you done since?
I don’t like paying taxes and having you ask for more, so you can play and take photo ops.
Do something! Start with your job!
