Two Medical Evacuations To Take Place Tonight
Two ship medical evacuations are set to take place this evening [Oct 16], with the Liberty Grace set to arrive off the east end from Bermuda to transfer a 67-year-old male crew member who has been suffering from unexplained dizziness, while the cruise ship Norwegian Escape will inbound for the medical evacuation of an 86-year-old female passenger suffering with a suspected broken pelvis.
A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, ”Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre is coordinating two ship medical evacuations off Bermuda this evening.
“The US-registered bulk grain carrier Liberty Grace, on route from Galveston, Texas bound for Malta in the Mediterranean, will arrive off the east end from Bermuda to transfer a 67 year old male crew member who has been suffering from unexplained dizziness.
“This transfer via the pilot/rescue boat St. David will take place at 5pm for onward evacuation to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
“The cruise ship Norwegian Escape inbound to Bermuda tonight at approximately 9pm for the medical evacuation of an 86 year old female passenger suffering with a suspected broken pelvis.
“The patient will disembark via pilot/rescue boat St. David under escort by ships medical team, for onward transit to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital. The vessel will then proceed back offshore and wait until Wednesday before taking pilot for her arrival to Dockyard as scheduled at 4pm.”
