Court: Teen Alleged To Have Admitted Stabbing

December 2, 2018

Jurors in a murder trial of five teenagers accused of killing 17-year-old Lyrico Steede in England heard one of the accused allegedly admitted to stabbing the Bermudian teenager, according to the latest report from the Nottingham Post.

The story said, “One of five people accused of the murder of Lyrico Steede claimed co-accused Kasharn Campbell told him: ‘Yeah, I stabbed him’.

“Lyrico, 17, was allegedly lured to a Bulwell park by the only girl in the dock, a 16-year-old who is too young to be named in public.

“He was stabbed several times, claim prosecutors, after being chased by her co-defendants. He died five days later in hospital.

“Giving evidence at Nottingham Crown Court, defendant Remmell Miller-Campbell, 18, of Sneinton Boulevard, claimed Kasharn made the comment to him after they ran from the park and ended up at a nearby house.

“Miller-Campbell said he thought Kasharn was meeting a dealer that night in the park to buy cannabis.

“And he claimed all his co-accused, except the 16-year-old girl, headed to the park after catching a taxi to the area.

“Once there, Miller-Campbell ‘saw running’. He started running himself and shouted ‘why are you running?’

“He told the jury he did not know where they were running to. ‘I did not want to be left in Bulwell on my own,’ he said. ‘I didn’t know the area’.

“After running, he said, he saw a ‘black figure’ next to a wall. The person turned around and he saw blood on his face.

“His barrister, Brian St Louis QC, asked who it was and Miller-Campbell answered ‘Lyrico’.

“‘Did you have any idea Lyrico Steede was in front of or near you at any stage that evening?’ asked Mr St Louis. Miller-Campbell said ‘no’.

“‘Did you share a common purpose with anybody that Lyrico Steede would be injured, attacked or stabbed?’ he asked. Again, Miller-Campbell told him ‘no’.

“The group then went to the nearby house where a teenager was babysitting.

“In the kitchen, Miller-Campell claimed co-accused Christian Jameson and Kasharn were arguing and pushing each other.

“Christian was saying ‘why did you do that?’, said Miller-Campbell. ‘Kasharn pushed him away. I asked Kasharn ‘what happened’ again. He said ‘yeah, I stabbed him”.

“And, asked by Mr St Louis, if he had any idea that that was being planned that night, he replied ‘no’”

Five teenagers deny the murder of the 17-year-old Bermudian, and the trial continues in the Nottingham Crown Court in the UK.
