With an aim to promote “peace and unity in our community,” the St. David’s County Cricket Club hosted a Peace & Unity Rally in St. David’s this afternoon [Jan 5].

Members of the community joined St. David’s County Cricket Club Secretary Stephen Tucker and President Mikkail Crockwell including MP Tinee Furbert, MP Dennis Lister III, Lt. Col. Edward Lamb, Bishop Leroy Bean, Rev. Dr. Kimmie Mello, liturgical dancer Kennita Allchin, Evangelist Tammy Wilson, and a representative of the Police Community Action Team.

This event follows after the fatal shooting in the area on December 29th, which claimed the life of 30-year old Ronniko Burchall.

A spokesperson for the club previously explained that the purpose of the event is to promote the “strong positive family culture that is a part of the people of St David’s and Bermuda as a whole,” with a plan to use that “positive energy to push back against the negative stigma that is being generated following recent unfortunate events.
