Results: Three BSSF All-Star Football Matches
After mother nature forced the matches to be postponed, the Bermuda School Sports Federations’ Primary School and one Middle School All Star Matches took place at the National Sports Center.
Primary School Girls: West 5 East 2
Avani Patton led the West to a 5 – 2 win over the East, as the Saltus Grammar School forward earned herself MVP honors with a hat trick for the winners. Calae Young Gibbons from Gilbert Institute added a great long range goal while Saltus’ Brooke Castree added the fifth.
The East got goals from Ja’Shay Trott from Harrington Sound and Eva Tuzo from St. George’s Preparatory. Mount Saint Agnes goalkeeper Taya Rodrigues was named MVP for the East.
Primary School Boys: East 3 West 1
The West took the lead early in the game with a fine effort from Blayz Borgesson, the Gilbert Institute forward beat the East goalkeeper with a low shot from just inside the box. The East were soon on level terms through Kydan Browne, as the Mount Saint Agnes student scored directly from a long range free kick.
Somersfield Academy’s Masaki Kitade put the East ahead minutes later when he was the first to pounce on a rebound to steer the ball home. The West created many chances in the second half but were continuously denied by MVP Jai Simmons from Prospect Primary in the East goal.
St George’s Preps Azende Trott –Smith put the game out of reach when he made no mistake beating the goalkeeper after breaking free on goal. The West MVP was Syhon Goater from Paget Primary.
Middle School Girls: Blue Team 3 Red Team 2
The Blue Team won a seesaw battle with the Red Team in the Middle School Girls match. The Blue Team took the lead in the 11th minute when Warwick Academy’s Ashley DaSilva turned Jahni Simmons cross into the net from ten years out.
Saltus Grammar School’s Ramiah Brangman equalized for the Red Team before Simmons from Whitney Institute regained the lead for the Blue Team. The Red Team would once again equalize through a fine effort from Azari Easton from Dellwood Middle School.
The match was settled in the last few minutes when Sydney Fischer from Saltus scored from outside the box to secure the win for the Blue Team. Brangman and DaSilva were both named MVP for their respective teams.
