‘Dark & Stormy’ Reception To Be Held In Toronto
Appleby Bermuda will be sponsoring a cocktail reception at the Hot Docs Festival taking place 25 April to 5 May in Toronto.
The Bermuda inspired ‘Dark & Stormy’ reception featuring Bermuda’s national drink will take place on Tuesday 30 April at the Muskoka Brewery Hub.
Hot Docs is North America’s largest documentary film festival and will feature over 200 films from Canada and around the world to Toronto audiences of more than 200,000. The Festival’s mission is to facilitate production, financing and distribution opportunities for documentary makers.
Steven Rees Davies, a corporate partner in Appleby’s Bermuda office and co-head of the firm’s global Technology & Innovation team, will be attending the Festival. He, and other members of the Bermuda team, have film financing experience, having worked with documentary producers and directors for a number of years.
He has also been involved with BIFF [Bermuda International Film Festival] and spoken on panels about the legal structures and the use of segregated account companies in film production structuring and financing options for films in Bermuda with the goal of assisting film makers manage international royalty streams and gain administrative efficiency.
“Appleby’s attendance at the Festival and sponsorship of the ‘Dark & Stormy’ reception aligns with our desire to support our clients and other Bermudian filmmakers who are showcasing their work at the Festival, while also promoting Bermuda’s technology and digital expertise,” he said.
The ‘Dark & Stormy’ reception is co-hosted by Appleby, Global Film Fund and Goslings, with door prizes generously donated by Coco Reef Bermuda, Fairmont Southampton, Hamilton Princess and Rosewood Bermuda.
