Three Arrests After Robbery In Southampton

Police at Hog Bay Park Bermuda April 2019[Updated] At around 2:30pm today [April 18] police responded to a robbery in Southampton, with two men — one with a “bladed article” — approaching a man sitting on a wall outside the Port Royal Gas Station.

The suspects stole cash from him, and a 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident, and police are currently searching the surrounding area for the second suspect.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 2:30pm today [April 18th] police officers responded to a report of a disturbance that turned out to be an armed robbery that occurred in the area of Rockaway Road, Southampton.

“Details are still emerging, but it appears that a man sitting on a wall outside the Port Royal Gas Station was approached by two other men, with one of those men apparently brandishing a bladed article.

“A quantity of cash was apparently taken from the lone male during the incident.

“Early information also suggests that the individuals involved briefly entered the gas station, but that the premises was not the the target of the assailants.

“One of the suspects, said to be a 19-year-old male, has been arrested and police officers are currently searching the surrounding area for the second suspect, who attempted to elude officers on a motorcycle before fleeing on foot.

“Witnesses or members of the public with relevant information are encouraged to call the main police telephone number 295-0011.”

Update 5.46pm: The police said two additional people have been arrested.

“The area search has concluded with two additional males, said to be 16 & 18 years of age respectively, taken into police custody in connection with this matter,” a police spokesperson said.

“There have been no reported injuries to the lone male that the assailants apparently robbed of cash.

“Inquiries continue and witnesses or members of the public with relevant information are now asked to call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744.”

      Well, sometimes during the course of an investigation officers come in contact with an individual that might have not been connected with the current crime but has outstanding warrants. Or the third man could have played a more passive role ie look out or getaway driver etc. Maybe the third gave false information or refused to ID himself.

      I have never policed back home and I have lived and policed in the US for almost 10 years now so I have forgotten most of the laws back home. That said, the above are just a few ways three ppl could have ended up in custody.
