April 12, 2019

A fire in the engine room of a Tug/Barge was extinguished and the vessel was able to safely make its way to St. George’s Harbour.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Wednesday 10th April, 5:38 pm. Bermuda Radio received a telephone call from Crisson’s company reporting that their Tug / Barge had a fire in the engine room, currently located in South Channel, and person onboard no longer answering his telephone.

“Pilot boat St. David was put on standby as Bermuda Radio attempted to contact the person onboard via cellphone. A few minutes later, Bermuda Radio was informed that the fire onboard was since extinguished with vessel and barge continuing under own steam towards St. George’s Harbour.
