Floating Dock Adrift, Fisherman Tows Ashore

A local fisherman encountered a section of floating dock adrift to the northeast of St. George’s and subsequently towed it into St. George’s Harbour.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “Wednesday 17th April, 12:53pm. A conscientious local fisherman encountered a section of floating dock adrift to the northeast of St. George’s and subsequently towed it into St. George’s Harbour.

“The fishing vessel Peanuts described the item as foam based, with a concrete topping, worn, and showing protrusions of re-enforcing rod.

“The navigation hazard was temporarily secured at Market Wharf, until Monday 22nd April, when the Corporation of St. George in conjunction with Bermuda Yacht Services, safely removed the debris from the water for disposal.”
