Food Allowance Funds Temporarily Delayed
The Department of Financial Assistance has confirmed that food allowance funds were temporarily delayed because of “Government’s financial year end.”
This follows after a notice was seen in a store that said, “Please note the Food Allowance for the April 2019 [1st Run] period will not be available until later this week. Please check with the Department of Financial Assistance @ 297-7600 for more information. Thank You.”
In response, yesterday a Government spokesperson said, “In response to your query, the Department of Financial Assistance has confirmed that funds were delayed because of Government’s financial year end.
“The funds were released yesterday 1 April, 2019 and have been received by grocers. During the interim situation, food vouchers were available to Financial Assistance clients. The cards are active for use today.”
