IoD To Hold Digital Asset Workshop On June 3

Natalie Neto Bermuda May 2019People are being invited to attend a presentation by leading Fintech lawyer Natalie Neto on Bermuda’s digital assets, legal and regulatory framework.

Ms Neto, a partner in the corporate funds and finance practice at Walkers Bermuda law firm, will give the talk, titled ‘Corporate Governance Requirements for Digital Assets Businesses, on June 3 at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club. It has been organized by the Institute of Directors, Bermuda branch.

“It will provide an overview of legislation in Bermuda, including the scope and meaning of terms such as ‘digital assets’, ‘initial coin offerings, ‘digital assets business activities’ and will also consider ICO approvals and DABA licensing requirements,” said Ms Neto.

She added: “I will also give an overview of AML/ATF requirements for ICOs and licensed digital assets businesses as well as governance requirements for an entity that is seeking a license pursuant to the Digital Assets Business Act 2018.

“This is an emerging and very active sector in Bermuda, and it could bring a lot of opportunities in a number of areas, including jobs, the requirement for local directors and senior executives, so it is important to be fully up to speed on this industry and the regulations.”
