Lewis Tabbed For A “Breakout” Performance

Bermuda’s Zeiko Lewis has been identified as one of six players who are based in the US people should keep an eye on, with the U.S-based FanSided sports site naming him as one of “six diamonds in the rough who could shine through during 2019’s iteration of the Gold Cup.

Fansided reporter Trevor Popoff wrote an article entitled ‘Gold Cup: 6 MLS dark horses primed for a breakout.” How impressed was he with Lewis? So much so that he included the Bermudian even though he plays in the USL and not the MLS.

Lewis, who plays for the Charleston Battery, leads his club in assists, goals, shots, and chances created. He also scored multiple goals for Bermuda in the four Nations League qualifying matches.

Popoff wrote: “While I am stretching own parameters by including a USL player, Lewis has been that good for the Battery and the Gombey Warriors alike that he deserves inclusion. What he lacks in height, he makes up for in pace and energy.”

He later added: “While his team may not be pegged to go very far in the tournament, keep your eye on the 5’6” lightning rod running tirelessly up and down the pitch. He may just surprise you.”
