Senator Richardson Sworn In As Junior Minister

Senator Anthony Richardson was sworn in as the Junior Minister for Home Affairs and the Cabinet Office, the Government said this evening.

A Government spokesperson said, “Senator Anthony Richardson JP was sworn in as the Junior Minister for Home Affairs and the Cabinet Office at Government House on Friday, 14th June.

“Anthony Richardson was the PLP Candidate for Constituency #7, Hamilton South in the 2017 General Election and has served in the Senate since September 2017.

“He has more than 28 years’ experience as a Chartered Accountant holding such senior positions as Accountant General of Bermuda, Chairman of the Bermuda Hospitals Board, Chief Executive Officer of the Bermuda Health Council and Chief Financial Officer of the Bermuda Land Development Company.

“I am extremely pleased to welcome Mr. Richardson to this role and I am certain that he will make a tremendous contribution,” Premier David Burt said.

“I thank the Junior Minister for stepping forward to serve our country. In this new role, he will continue to make a real difference to the development and growth of Bermuda, for all Bermudians.”

    Can someone please tell me the cost of this PLP Cabinet including this new position compared to the cost of Cabinet under the OBA?

    Why on earth is there a need to further increase the ministerial payroll!? This pisses me off as i struggle to paybmy extra taxes and health insurance.

    Why so many Junior Ministers? If the Ministers are that incompetent, fire them and replace them. Unfortunately the civil service mentality of just keep hiring seems to have taken over. Presumably he will also need the usual complement of additional consultants and advisers to help him. Must be a new tax increase to be announced.

      Holding multiple jobs under this regime is par for the course. You can be a junior minister and paid consultant to that ministry at the same time, as well as holding down a full time job, so why not.
