Pride Parade Start Time Moved To 11.00am

August 15, 2019

Citing the “level of support and the increased numbers expected for Bermuda’s first ever Pride Parade,” the organizers announced that they “decided to move the start time of the parade to 11am.”

The poster says, “Since Bermuda’s first ever Pride parade was announced we have been overwhelmed with support and goodwill from the community and the event promises to be extremely well attended and bigger than expected, which is fantastic.

“Owing to the level of support and the increased numbers expected we have decided to move the start time of the parade to 11am. This will give everyone more time to complete the parade and enjoy the park, entertainment and community gathering after.

“This will also ensure that we are mindful of supporting the businesses of Hamilton, many of whom are very supportive of Pride. The parade will still leave from Victoria Park and the route remains the same. The park will open at 9am.”

Bermuda Pride Important Update August 2019

The organisers also updated their website with additional information covering various aspects. They explained, “We will call everyone to assemble at the bandstand at 10:30am for a short ceremony to mark the occasion. We will then all leave the park together to begin the parade. The parade will be led by a vehicle carrying the Grand Marshall and a music truck. Feel free to follow the truck.”

They also noted, “Traffic will only be stopped along roads when the parade passes. This is called a ‘rolling traffic stop’, and seeks to minimize disruption to people using the city. Roads will be blocked when the procession approaches and will reopen to traffic as soon as the parade has cleared the area.”

The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, August 31st.

Um still waiting for the people’s campaign to come out and protest. That’s right I haven’t seen em out since July 2017 smh

    • Toodle-oo says:

Ah , but one of the main players is in favour of equal rights SSM .

    • Mark says:

To busy making pom poms for their Independence now or never party!

      • Tim Johnson says:

A Hahahahahahahahahahahah! That is very funny!

    • Wake up Bie says:

Neither PLP or oba aka UBP gave you what you want idiot. LOLOLOLOL

      • Toodle-oo says:

Sorry , big difference . Your oba/ubp knew the constitution and how it would play out and sat on the fence waiting for things to fall into place. They should have taken a stand , of course , but wimped out.
Alternatively , the PLP has instead fought to ban SSM .
Which says more about which party ? Can you figure it out ?

        • Joe Bloggs says:

“Your oba/ubp knew the constitution and how it would play out and sat on the fence waiting for things to fall into place. They should have taken a stand, of course, but wimped out.”

Umm, forgive me but I am not sure I understand that comment. You say that the “oba/ubp knew the constitution and how it would play out”. Ok, fair enough.

Then you say that “They should have taken a stand, of course, but wimped out.”

Are you suggesting that the oba/ubp should have acted contrary to the Constitution and sought to pass law to discriminate against a segment of the Bermudian community?

      • Anbu says:

Yes we know. The oba is the ubp blah blah blah. Just like abt 60% of the pee el pee are ubp as well. Lmao. God we bermudians are dumb.

    • Cow Polly says:

The People’s Campaign should be concentrating their efforts on the exorbitant tax hikes for Land and Health Care which we, the people can’t afford not on protesting a lawful march for human rights.

      • Reality Cheque says:

Fine, don’t march for human rights but tell me then, exactly WHERE ARE THE MARCHES against all of the taxes and hardships the govt is imposing on us? Why the silence?

What will it take for the marchers to march? Under this govt, you all seem to be saying “thank you sir, may I have another.”

        • Toodle-oo says:

Well ,there really hasn’t been silence as such. The thing is the protestation is coming from what is deemed as that group of people who ‘we don’t care what you think’ .
          There is a difference.

      • What says:

The People’s Campaign is an organized group of people under the PLP! What makes you think they care about what the PLP does not accomplish? Dream on!

      • Onion Juice says:

Well since we are on de HOOK for our beautiful airport and Morgans Point, de money got to come from somewhere.
Then again we should ask Bob how to do it after he told seniors money dont grow on trees, but turns around an pulls $77 Million out of thin air for Billionaires sail boat race.

        • Question says:

More then that has been wasted on Grand Atlantic and you’re still tarting it up trying to get someone to use it.
More undisclosed amounts being “invested” in it.

        • 2woke says:

Hey OJ, we know you’re stupid, and you keep reminding us with your lies and lack of understanding…of everything.
The airport cost us nothing, where as the plp cost us over $1 Billion….and we get nothing.
You put the island into unrecoverable debt.
You’ve made bermuda the laughing stock of the world.
You’re a racist. You hate other people because of their skin colour.
Why would you think your opinion is respected here? Do those who support you also share in your racist views?

        • Mike Hind says:

          Again with this nonsense?
Saying the same lie over and over again doesn’t make it true…

        • Anbu says:

          300 + million return. Loser.

    • PBanks says:

Well there’s supposed to be some prayer event/counter-protest happening, maybe some of the ‘members’ will be there?

  2. Larry says:

There is no need for anyone to protest because they are merely showing their support for each other.

They are not in anyway trying to get any laws passed through the house of assembly.

Let them be and this to shall pass and it will be some other eventful happening in the Bermy town, that the parade will be forgotten in no time.

Typical Bermudians, worked up about something until the next thing to talk about comes along.

  3. Me says:

They should be protesting against the land tax the sugar tax the post tax and the up coming dodgy health plan etc everything getting more expensive by the month
