Video: ‘Taking Off’ Highlights Boarding Bridges
Skyport has released the latest episode of ‘Taking Off’, a video series with host Mikaela Pearman that highlights the airport redevelopment project, with this episode highlighting the Passenger Boarding Bridges.
Speaking in the episode, Mikaela Pearman said, “One of the most exciting parts of Bermuda’s new passenger terminal building is here! Passenger Boarding Bridges.
“That’s right – when the new terminal opens, passengers will exit the plane via passenger boarding bridges instead of walking down the steps and onto the tarmac.
“The bridges were shipped in from Spain and are manufactured by ThyssenKrupp – the leading company in quality passenger boarding bridges.
“There are six in total, which will be affixed to six gates at the new terminal.
“Installation for the bridges began last month with setting up of columns, placing columns on the fixed connectors and rotundas and then attaching the bridges to the rotundas.
“The bridges are numbered three to eight from north to south, to allow for up to two new bridges should the terminal be extended to meet greater future demand.
“They can service all aircrafts that currently come to Bermuda and larger aircrafts once new routes are developed.
“It won’t be long before we are using the new passenger boarding bridges in Bermuda’s new passenger terminal building.”
That’s exciting? that we’re finally catching up with developing countries in keeping passengers dry?
*developed
No. “Developing” – otherwise referred to as Third World countries….and yes I know cause I’ve been to some of them.
It’s new for Bermuda. Let it be.
Bye look at that! No more getting the hair messed up walking to the plane.
Giving away $30 Million a year for 30 years,I guess its worth it.
$2.5M per month. Not bad. How do you like the $18M per month on debt servicing? What is there to show for that?
“Giving away $30 Million a year for 30 years,I guess its worth it.”
This is about the airport, stupid. Not the hospital.
You really should educate yourself better on this issue. How much do you think it costs to build an Airport and then maintain it for 30 years?
For $30 Million a year for 30 years, Priceless.
How do you manage to dress yourself each morning?
PLP ministers will look Good walking down the Canadian runways, then looking at the Canadian solar plant.
OBA giving projects to canadians- 1 the airport
PLP giving projects to canadians- 2 hospital and solar finger
To think they where so against the airport.
They were against de timing and de secretive manner that it was done, remember we are on de hook when they dont make their annual quota, and they almost sold it to China.
LMAO
You’re not good with numbers or facts generally are you.
Just because you could not be bothered to attend any one of the many presentations on the new terminal, not airport, does not mean that it was secretive.
Typical selective responding. Care to talk about hospital and solar finger at airport?
Secretive? How so?
The hospital was not built by a Canadian company.
Both the hospital and the solar plant contracts were awarded after a proper tendering process. The airport was not.
The hospital is a PPP contract giving an overseas firm annual payments for 30 years. I don’t recall that causing riots though for some reason.
“Both the hospital and the solar plant contracts were awarded after a proper tendering process. ”
No they were not. you’re another liar and apologist.
Nice the Canadian Airport seems to be coming alone well.
sorry typo “along”
Well…let me see….you facilitate taxi , minibus , general public , why not boat arrivals?
You have a dock is there a shuttle from it?
Frummit to the terminal.
Over there…
Advise next year you take sumdat happy to be here money and upgrade.
Elevating a parking area for long term parking would be a thoughtful upgrade as well.
I have one very important question…well two really…
1/.Who paves the runway?
2/.What is being done about the bridges leading to said terminal.
Oops…one more…the causeway designs…do any of them incorporate hydro electric power generation ifnotwhynot?
Ooops
When will the new terminal be fully opened?
